Continuing the Journey: Travelling to Dublin and Lackagh

Travelling to Dublin and Lackagh to meet those who have carried the memory of the Barbados exiles, seeking connection, understanding, and prayerful partnership.

Hello friends,

Since we met with Barbados Ambassador Haynes, I have contacted many who were involved in the re-dedication of the memorial plaque of those deported to Barbados by Cromwellian forces in 17th century.

Sunday May 10th Annette and I will be travelling to Dublin and then onto Lackagh, County Kildare where the plaque is situated.

We would value your prayers for the following ….

  • 11th at 11am meeting in Lackagh with Most Rev Bishop Denis Nulty the Roman Catholic Bishop of Kildare and Fr Liam Merrigan the Parish Priest of Monasterevin.

  • Evening meeting with Sean O’Fearghail TD (MP) in Irish Parliament. Sean played a key role in arranging the commemoration.

  • Tuesday 12th 3-30pm meeting at Naas Library with Mario Corrigan. Mario was responsible for the research, he also wrote a very moving song ("We’ll say goodbye to Ireland, we’ll cry our tears and pray, that maybe we can somehow make it home one day.")

Meeting times pending with

  • Cllr Noel Connolly on the organising committee responsible for this photograph.

  • Ollie McCormack and sister Ann whose father was Patrick McCormack the secretary and treasurer of the original memorial committee who loved history and felt passionately about remembering the exiles lest they be forgotten.

Thank you for your partnership

Shirley
