Heritage Week Draws Near

Shirley Bowers

Hello friends,
A quick recap

For nearly thirty years we have been researching and addressing the Cromwell part of history in the hope to bring healing to the injustices. This work has taken us across the British Isles and Ireland and eventually Barbados, where in 17th century people were transported and forgotten. Much of that journey is recorded in my latest book, I Heard Their Cry.

But the story didn’t end there...

Last year with the help of the late Dr Janet Craven we discovered a memorial plaque in Lackagh - County Kildare which had been restored. The plaque had all the names of those that were sent to Barbados by Cromwell's men. This was unexpected and moving; they were not forgotten. We knew we needed to connect our story with theirs to ensure that the descendants of those who suffered are seen and remembered. This we did and it has resulted in three invitations to speak during Heritage Week this month.

Please pray...
  • For Liam, as he coordinates with each venue.

  • For me, as I speak and share the story.

  • For Annette, as she manages the PowerPoint and supports each event.

Love and blessings,

Shirley
